St. Catherine’s stands out among Georgia’s unique Golden Barrier Islands. Known for its rich, diverse history, it has equally impressive nature and wildlife on 15,000 acres. Today, the island is dedicated to conservation, scientific research and education. Fripp Audubon is pleased to present the leading expert on St. Catherine’s, Dr. Emil Urban. He will fascinate you with insights into the island’s ecology, botany, zoology, AND natural history—backed up by archeological discoveries! See you Thursday, February 23rd, 7 pm in the Fripp Community Centre. It’s free, and all are welcome; off-islanders get pass at gate. Meet ‘n’ greet 6 pm (please bring some “nibblies” to share). EMMA STEELE, RISING STAR VIOLINIST PLAYS FRIPP FEBRUARY 26 AT 5 pm Don’t miss an incomparable musical experience, 5 pm, Sunday, February 26th, when fresh, thrilling violinist Emma Steele takes the stage at Fripp Island Community Centre! The supremely talented Ms. Steele, a senior at Carnegie Mellon University, is a star pupil of the legendary violinist Cyrus Forough. At age 20 Emma was among only six finalists in the prestigious 2010 Sibelius Violin Competition. This is perhaps THE premier worldwide violin competition, held in Finland once every five years. Ms. Steele returned from Helsinki with the Young Talent Award. Many who have heard her believe she is a prime contender for the top prize when the next competition is held in 2015 Enjoy Emma Steele’s brilliant interpretation of Bach, Beethoven, and other great composers, Sunday, February 26th, 5 pm at the Fripp Island Community Centre.
