Beaufort SC Military Bases
It’s true Beaufort South Carolina is home to Parris Island, 1 of 2 of our nation‘s Marine Corps Recruit Depots or “MCRD” for short, where United States Marines are made. Just north of Parris Island on Port Royal Island you will find the Naval Hospital that services recruits form PI and retired military. Travel a bit further, approximately 8 miles north heading out of town, and you will pass The Marine Corps Air Station, “MCAS”, also known as “Fightertown”. This 6,900 acre military air bases is among one of the largest military air strips in the world. Beaufort is proud of our bases, our troops and our low country history. Next time you’re in town visit one of our bases and show your support to our military personnel.
